Shirley Moretti, at the age of 59, had her first mammogram and was diagnosed with cancer in both breasts. She elected to undergo bi-lateral mastectomies with immediate reconstruction after completing her eight month chemotherapy regiment. Immediately after recuperation she felt the need to give back to other women and in so doing, volunteered to assist newly diagnosed breast cancer patients at The Breast Care Center. In addition Shirley provided support and assistance to both of her sisters who also were diagnosed with breast cancer, one in 1991 and the other in 1999. This gave her cause to become more deeply involved in helping others. In 1998 she became active in the Cordelia Knott Wellness Foundation, formerly known as The Foundation for Advancements in Breast Care and on a volunteer basis, currently serves as the President of the Foundation.
